We owe so much to our First Nations. We would not have survived a single winter without them. If you go to Europe, people live in tiny spaces compared to our huge allotments of land which we took with or without the permission of our First Nations. Our very high standard of living would NOT have been achievable without the First Nations. The LEAST we can do is acknowledge their huge contribution to our wealth each time we sing our national anthem.

This is a start in the awakening process for non-native and native people and we must do ongoing truth and reconciliation for all groups by uncensoring education, government, business, media and making action steps to achieve a new Canada that allows for diversity and for unity with diversity with love, hope, justice and equality as best we can: Fairness within Freedom and Freedom within Fairness and this means sustainable living for all sentient beings... We have been on the wrong path and native culture can help us reconnect and rebalance our lives and make the future brighter and better than how we handled (mishandled) things...

It is atrocious that the Canadian Government fails to recognize Native land claims across Canada. I live in the town of Caledonia near the DCE which has been occupied now for the past 6 years. There is no reason for negotiations to have stopped. Canadians occupy Kanata; it is not the other way around. The Natives are called First Nations for a reason: they were here first!
